We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding the SSL certificate for *.rt.speechmatics.com that may affect your use of Speechmatics Real-Time SaaS. We are transitioning from our current certificate issuer, DigiCert, to Let’s Encrypt.
What’s changing?
The root certificate for Speechmatics' RT SaaS API endpoints will move from DigiCert Global Root G2 to ISRG Root X1, which is issued by Let’s Encrypt.
What does this mean for you?
For the vast majority of customers, this change will have no impact.
The vast majority of systems in use today trust the Let’s Encrypt ISRG Root X1 certificate, and you can review the full list of compatible platforms here: Let’s Encrypt Certificate Compatibility.
However, if you are using certificate pinning or performing specific certificate validation based on the old DigiCert certificate, you may need to take action to ensure compatibility with the new certificate.
Migration Date:
We will be making this change on Wednesday 9 April 2025 at 12:00 UTC.
Next Steps:
No action is needed if you are using platforms that trust Let’s Encrypt ISRG Root X1.
If you are performing certificate pinning or have any concerns about certificate validation, we recommend updating your configurations to support the new certificate chain issued by Let’s Encrypt.
If you would like to test this change before the migration date above, you can use the RT Preview environment endpoint preview.rt.speechmatics.com to test your application from Wednesday 19 March 2025.
